ACLS EDUCATIONAL OUTCOMES/GOALS  

Discuss the core essential American Heart Association guidelines for Advanced Cardiac Life Support (A.C.L.S.)
Demonstrate skills required for A.C.L.S.

TARGET AUDIENCE

This course is designed for the registered nurse, physician, paramedic, E.M.T., respiratory therapist, and other health professionals who are responsible for managing patients in cardiopulmonary emergencies and/or arrest.

COURSE DESCRIPTION (ACLS)

This American Heart Association ACLS course is designed to cover the core, essential elements for advanced cardiac life support and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.  The format for the course both large and small group discussions utilizing case scenarios, ACLS equipment, and evaluation.  A 33-question multiple choice written test is used to evaluate successful completion of the course.  The new ACLS guidelines (2006) will be taught as books and materials become available in Sept. 2006.

PRE-REQUISITES

Basic B.L.S. CPR/AED knowledge (Healthcare Provider CPR certification recommended)
Basic E.C.G. interpretation, including blocks and lethal arrhythmias
Basic human anatomy/pathophysiology of the cardiovascular system
Working knowledge of taking a patient’s history, performing a physical exam, performing basic assessment and providing treatment
Professional training in a health care-related profession

CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS (C.E.U.'s)

H.E.A.R.T. Consultants, LLC is accredited as a provider of continuing education by the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC).  This organization issues CRCE (Continuing Respiratory Continuing Education) contact hours, which are directly transferable by most professional licensing boards, including the Ohio Board of Nursing.  

16 hour Initial Provider Course = 16 Contact Hours of Continuing Respiratory Care Education (CRCE)
8 hour Refresher Course = 8 Contact Hours of Continuing Respiratory Care Education (CRCE)

 COURSE COST  

Initial Provider (16 Hrs.) $145.00
$88.00 (tuition) + $37.00 (2006 edition textbook) + $20.00 (non-refundable registration fee) = $145.00

 

Refresher (8 hr.) $102.00
$45.00 (tuition) + $37.00 (2006 edition textbook) + $20.00 (non-refundable registration fee) = $95.00

Note: As of August 31, 2006 our ACLS classes will be taught using the new 2006 AHA guidelines.  This means that all ACLS students must have a new book in their possession before and during the class.  Class fees include course admission, textbook, C.E.U. certificate and A.C.L.S. Provider Card. (Cards and CEU certificates are issued within 4-6 weeks of the course.)

REGISTRATION/PAYMENT POLICY

Pre-registration is required.  Register as early as possible for classes fill up quickly.  Your advanced payment secures your enrollment in the course for that date.  Payment can be made by check or money order made out to H.E.A.R.T. Consultants.  

PRE-REGISTRATION

Pre-registration and prepayment is required for all courses.  Please contact Kim Blauch at 440-286-4680, if you have any questions.  Registration will not be complete until payment is received.  Register early to guarantee a place in class.

Late Registration Fees:  After the deadline for registration (1 week prior to a class), sign-ups will have an additional $10 late registration fee.

In the event the pre-registration fee has not been received within two (2) weeks prior to the course date, the slot will be forfeited and given to someone on the waiting list if applicable.  

REGISTRATION DEADLINE  

The registration deadline is seven (7) business days* prior to course date.  

CHECK RETURN FEE  

There is a $30.00 check return fee for any check returned to H.E.A.R.T. Consultants from the bank for any reason.  

REFUSAL OF SERVICE POLICY  

A  H.E.A.R.T. Consultants instructor may refuse training (service) to a student if he/she feels the continuation of the student in class presents a safety risk to anyone.  The student will not be eligible for a refund and may not rollover to another course date.  

REFUNDS/CANCELLATION POLICY  

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing and either mailed to H.E.A.R.T. Consultants or faxed to  440-286-4784.  Refunds will be given prior to the registration deadline of seven (7) business days* prior to the course.  No change/cancellation requests will be honored after the registration deadline.  The refund will be fees paid, minus a $20.00 non-refundable registration fee and the cost of the textbook if not returned.  

NOTE:  Textbooks must be returned in the original packaging, in new condition, with CD included, having no bent edges or writing in the book. Enclosed pocket references must be in the package & the shrink wrap must be intact.  Books failing to meet these criteria will be purchased at the full price of $37.00

Most classes fill up quickly.  In the event of low enrollment or extenuating circumstances with facilities, bad weather, equipment problems, or instructors, H.E.A.R.T. Consultants retains the right to cancel the course.  All efforts will be made to notify registrants of the cancellation or a change.  In the event of such cancellation, a full refund may be issued or the registrant may choose to rollover to another course date.

An enrollee, who fails to cancel prior to the first day of class, forfeits the entire registration fee.

ROLLOVER POLICY  

H.E.A.R.T. Consultants will accommodate rollover requests made in writing and either mailed to H.E.A.R.T. Consultants or faxed to 440-286-4784 within seven (7) business days* prior to the course date.  The rollover course must be taken within six (6) months of the original course date.  There is a maximum of two (2) rollovers for any student.  

NOTE:  No change/cancellation requests can be honored less than seven (7) business days* prior to the course date.  

* Business days are considered Monday through Friday.
